The River Finn is one of the best salmon rivers in Europe. The season opens on March 1st and from then until May there are spring salmon generally in the range of 8-12lb. Some grilse will start to appear in May but the main run is in June through to July with another run of salmon in late August to the end of the season on September 15th. The river is at its best in the falling spate with plenty of good fly water from Ballybofey up stream. The angler will need a Lough Agency Rod license and a permit to fish the stretch of his choice.
